Zipping and Unzipping Using The Command Line
by Chris Brown | Dec 26, 2011
For the life of me, I can never remember the commands to tar, un-tar, zip, un-zip, etc...so I'm finally writing these down. I swear I look these up every time I'm sitting in front of a command line. Now they're finally in one place!
Common Git Shortcuts
by Chris Brown | Nov 21, 2011
Git is a deep powerful tool. More often than not, I only use a very limited set of commands to control my version history and keep my repositories up to date. Below is a list of common Git commands. These commands assume that you are cd'd into your current working directory.

List a set of development servers that always run in dev mode. This is useful if you program locally. See http://doc.silverstripe.org/doku.php?id=configuration for a description of what dev mode does.

Suspend/Sleep Issues with Deb or Ubuntu Flavored Linux and Netbooks
My issues have been with both Ubuntu 10.04/10.10/11.04 and Debian 6 on a Toshiba Netbook nb305. If the lid is closed or the computer is suspended, the system will not wake back up.

BBQ Sauce
by Chris Brown | Jul 16, 2011
I've always wanted to make barbecue sauce, so today I tried it. And the verdict is...not bad. Not bad at all, in fact, pretty good if I may say so myself. Good enough I thought I'd share my recipe. It's mostly tangy with a little sweet and heat. Vinegar based, but with a healthy dose of tomato paste.
Fixed Gear
by Chris Brown | Jul 15, 2011
Other than my Schwinn Fastback, I've never been 100% happy with any of the bicycles that I've owned. My Specialized Sirrus which I still own, is too clunky. It has a great light-weight frame, but all the components wear out fast and the derailer is crap. My Bianchi Fremont was close to perfect, but a stiff aluminium frame on a fixed gear bike translates directly into sore wrists and ass. That bike never met a bump it or pothole without bone jarring effects. Why did I get rid of my Schwinn?
An Evening with the Melvins
by Chris Brown | May 17, 2011
Last night I was fortunate enough to see The Melvins[http://www.melvins.com/] at The Great American Music Hall[http://www.gamh.com/] in San Francisco. One of my favorite groups at one of my favorite venues. They gave a rare performance of Lysol, Eggnog and Huidini in their entirety.
